Miss Right to Life of Georgia 2012
Emily Talley
Emily Katherine Talley is from Gainesville, GA and is the 19 year old daughter of Ty and Jill Talley. Emily is a 2011 graduate of Chestatee High School and is now a sophomore at Gainesville State College where she plans on obtaining her Associates Degree in Social Work and then transferring to the University of Georgia to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis on Child Welfare.
Emily has always had a heart for helping children. By the age of 12 she knew that she wanted to become a social worker so that she could help under-privileged children. Through middle and high school Emily was a camp counselor for many different organizations such as Camp Hope in Toccoa, GA, as well as Cross Training Sports Camp. Emily was blessed to go on a mission trip to Guatemala her senior year of high school and needless to say….”She left her heart there!” While in Guatemala, Emily got to visit an orphanage, taught Vacation Bible School at an elementary school and went to a malnutrition center. Emily was overwhelmed by God’s presence over those children. She went to be a blessing to those in Guatemala but she ended up being the one blessed.
While serving as Miss Right to Life, Emily wants to help spread God’s word that every child has the right to live and every child is special. Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This Bible verse confirms to us that God definitely has a plan for every child.
Emily’s very favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else guard your heart for everything you do flows from it.” This Bible verse is so special to her because as a woman we need to guard our hearts in everything that we do so the sins of the world does not enter into our minds and in our hearts.
